2023 City of Redcliffe Chess Club Champion – CM David Beaumont
A hearty congratulations to the top seed in the 5 round FIDE, ACF and QJ rated 2023 City of Redcliffe Chess Club Championship CM David Beaumont on taking out first place all by himself with the great score of 4.5/5.
David drew with Mark C Stokes in R1, but then won his next 4 games against Elizabeth Williams, Nathanael Young, Max Phillips and Daniel Woodrow. David will be presented with a beautiful Chess Set and a lovely 1st place trophy on next Wednesday night, December 20 at our Free Pizza, AGM and fun Chess Night.
Nathanael Young also performed very very well, winning 4 games against Nikola Maljkovic, Jai Turner, Johan Boobal and Max Windsor and only just losing to David Beaumont. Well done Nathanael – a 2nd place trophy awaits you on Wednesday night.
The Best Junior Trophy and another beautiful Chess Set will be presented to Max Phillips on Wednesday night. Max finished on 3.5/5 and was also equal third in the tournament with Mark C Stokes.
Lots of other trophies will be presented to both Adults and to Juniors on Wednesday night, with tie break points determining the trophy winners if tied on final scores. Make sure you come this Wednesday night December 20 for our Free Pizza Night, AGM and Fun Chess Night. You might even win a trophy if you are lucky!
The Redcliffe Chess Club will close for the Christmas holidays after our Fun Night on December 20 and will re-open on Wednesday night January 24 at 7pm with our 2024 Summer Swiss starting just after 7:30pm.
