Australians taking on the World’s best in the U/8s Champs. – Go Rheyansh!!
Rheyansh Annapureddy in the U8 World Youth Championship, Butami Georgia
We certainly need some positive and uplifting news in the world of chess.
Rheyansh (FIDE 1698) is flying the flag for Australia and is coming =1st with 5/5 in the U8 Open section of this 11 round tournament, part of the World Cadets.
His starting rank was 4/153 players and next round he is due to play a slightly higher rated player from Russia, Roman Shogdzhiev. This is like some real-life ‘Searching for Bobby Fischer’ drama!
Games begin at a convenient 9:15pm for Australian viewers in the eastern states: https://chess24.com/en/watch/live-to…-2022-u8/5/1/1
