MINUTES REDCLIFFE CHESS CLUB AGM WED DEC 22 2021
PRESENT: Mark C Stokes, Tony Weller, Allan Fossey, Tom Maguire, Don Hamilton, Roman Mouzovatkine, Victor Davidovici, Austin Hamilton, Colin Dougherty, Craig Stewart, Aiden Brady, Aurel-John Buciu, Alex Buciu, George Warta.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:
Mark C Stokes delivered his President’s Report, outlining a year with 7 successfully ACF rated Club Wednesday night Tournaments, 2 very successful Open Weekend Chess Tournaments in May and September and a successful one day FIDE rated Rapid Tournament in November.
Mark also acknowledged and thanked John Buciu from BBC Painting for his generous sponsorship of the two Open Weekend Chess Tournaments in May and September and Club Treasurer Tony Weller for presenting many financial updates throughout the year. Mark also thanked Tom Maguire for his great help with the new Vega Pairing Program to determine who plays who in each round of the tournament games and all Redcliffe Chess Club members for supporting the Club with great out turnout numbers each Wednesday night. Mark also thanked retiring Webmaster Kerry Corker for his timely and regular Update of round results, upcoming tournament information, Club Calendar changes due to Covid and other matters of interest from the CAQ, ACF, or wider chess community. Mark C Stokes moved that his President’s Report be accepted.Seconded by Tony Weller. Passed unanimously.
TREASURERS REPORT:
Tony Weller presented a written up to date financial records at the AGM, showing a healthy financial position for the Club and a written report that he tabled. The Financial Statements for the year were available for any Club Member who wanted to see them.Tony mentioned that the City Of Redcliffe Chess Club Westpac Bank balance is now in excess of $18000, up from $14000 at this time last year. Tony also outlined the initial costs that Incorporation of the Club would entail – $167.85 – plus ongoing yearly costs of approximately $60. Tony Weller also stated that the move to on-line payment of Night Fees and on-line payment of Tournament prizemoney have definitely made things easier. Tony Weller moved that his Treasurer’s Report be accepted. Seconded by Mark C Stokes Passed unanimously.
Election of 2022 Redcliffe Chess Club Committee.
All positions were declared vacant. Mark C Stokes was voted in as Interim Chairman unanimously, after this was moved by Allan Fossey and seconded by Tony Weller. Mark Stokes indicated their had been one nomination for President – Mark C Stokes Allan Fossey moved that Mark C Stokes become President of the City of Redcliffe Chess Club. This was seconded by Colin Dougherty.
Mark C Stokes was elected President of the City of Redcliffe Chess Club unanimously.
Mark C Stokes resumed the role of Chairperson.
Mark C Stokes indicated their had been one nomination for Treasurer – Tony Weller. Allan Fossey moved that Tony Weller become Treasurer of the City of Redcliffe Chess Club. This was seconded by Mark C Stokes.
Tony Weller was elected Treasurer of the City of Redcliffe Chess Club unanimously.
Mark C Stokes indicated their had been one nomination for Secretary-Max Kershaw. Allan Fossey moved that Max Kershaw become Secretary of the City of Redcliffe Chess Club. This was seconded by Mark C Stokes.
Max Kershaw was elected Secretary of the City of Redcliffe Chess Club unanimously.
Mark C Stokes indicated their had been one nomination for Web Site Updater: Tyson Walker. Don Hamilton moved that Tyson Walker become Web Site Updater. This was seconded by George Warta.
Tyson Walker was elected Web Site Updater of the City of Redcliffe Chess Club unanimously.
Three options for Club Opening Times were discussed for 2022:
A: Open 7:30pm Start Tournament Games at 8:0
B: Open 7pm Start Tournament Games at 7:35pm
C: Open 6:30pm Start Tournament Games at 7:05pm
A vote was taken, with 1 vote for Option A , 13 votes for Option B and 0 votes for Option C.
So Redcliffe Chess Club will Open at 7pm and start Tournament Games at 7:35pm in 2022, beginning on Wednesday night January 19.
Motion to Incorporate the City of Redcliffe Chess Club Moved: Mark C Stokes Seconded: Tony Weller. Mark Stokes spoke in favour of the incorporation, saying the Chess Association of Qld Inc was likely to require Chess Clubs with more than 20 members to be incorporated from some time next year. Mark Stokes mentioned that Redcliffe Chess Club would need to be affiliated with the CAQ to have our Tournament Games rated by the ACF and to continue to be covered by the CAQ Public Liability Insurance Policy and spoke in favour of Treasurer Tony Weller preparing the necessary paperwork to incorporate the City Of Redcliffe Chess Club. Other Club Members Allan Fossey and Tony Weller also spoke in favour of incorporation. No-one spoke against the motion.The motion to incorporate the City Of Redcliffe Chess Club was passed unanimously.
Club Members then enjoyed the free pizza provided by the Club and then played R6 of the Club Championship. Tom Maguire won his game against Don Hamilton to win the 2021 City of Redcliffe Chess Club Championship outright with the perfect score of 6 out of 6!
The City of Redcliffe Chess Club will begin playing again on Wednesday night January 19, 2022, with the new Opening Time of 7pm and the new Tournament Start Time of 7:35pm in place.
