Two RCC Teams to be selected for Qld. Teams Championships.

The RCC committee has the difficult task of choosing two teams to represent the strongest chess club in Qld.
Will they go for Experience or Youth?
Will they pick one strongest team and a second team or will they even the teams out?
Will they be swayed by “offerings” of chocolate?
If so, please give them to me and I will see that they reach a good destination.

Just imagine – all we need is one more date throughout the year and we would have a Queensland Chess League.
Northern clubs could play by the Interweb – with certified Arbiters on site for each northern club venue.
20 minutes each per side – no increments – and no toilet breaks – you cannot leave the playing room while you are playing.

How do you pay for the Northern Teams arbiters?
10 player teams each paying $30 to represent their Club in a State Championship (with no travel expenses)
$300 for the arbiter.

Is this scenario just a pipe dream – or perhaps someone’s crazy idea (that would be moi!)?

In Europe it is just normal, day-to-day Chess League chess.

Recently I saw GM Ivanchuk playing in the Turkish League – and I would imagine being paid well.

10 active GMs in Australia – how much are they earning playing chess?

In the old days once you got your title, straight into driving cabs, now it is straight into coaching.

Has anyone thought that maybe GMs want to play chess for a living? Hence Chess Leagues.

TIME FOR A CHANGE IN THINKING!
