Gold Coast Chess Club is pleased to announce the return of the Arianne Caoili Memorial Weekender, this year returning to a traditional 3-day classical format.
The tournament will be held at the recently refurbished Bill Deacon Pavilion, Mudgeeraba Showgrounds, with a field strictly limited to 100 players.
FORMAT
• 7-round Swiss
• 60 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move
• ACF Classical Rated & QJ Rated
• Open to all players
• Maximum field: 100 players
• Played under the FIDE Laws of Chess
SCHEDULE
Friday 6 November
Round 1 — 7:00 pm
Saturday 7 November
Round 2 — 9:00 am
Round 3 — 12:30 pm
Round 4 — 4:00 pm
Sunday 8 November
Round 5 — 9:00 am
Round 6 — 12:30 pm
Round 7 — 4:00 pm
Prizegiving will follow Round 7.
PRIZES
$3,000 GUARANTEED MAIN PRIZE POOL
Increasing with entries up to $5,000
PLUS $300 GUARANTEED BEST FEMALE PRIZE
Main prize distribution:
Open — 70% of Prize pool
• 1st — 50% of Open prize pool
• 2nd — 30%
• 3rd — 20%
Rating Prizes — 30% of prize pool
• Rating Group A
• Rating Group B
• Rating Group C
• Best Unrated
Rating groups will be established after entries close using published ACF ratings, with the rated field divided as evenly as practicable between the three groups.
Players may win only one Open or Rating prize, with the higher-value prize taking precedence. The $300 Best Female Prize is separate and may be won in addition to another prize.
Cash prizes will be shared between players tied on score within the relevant prize category. Tie-breaks will be used for final standings only.
ENTRY
Gold Coast Chess Club Members — $60
Non-Members — $90
Entry and payment are online only.
No cash payments, bank transfers or entries at the venue will be accepted.
Entries close Thursday 5 November, or earlier if the 100-player capacity is reached.
TOURNAMENT CONDITIONS
• Up to two half-point byes may be requested
• Forfeit time: 30 minutes
• Players must record their moves throughout the game
• Electronic devices must remain switched off and stored in accordance with the Chief Arbiter’s directions
• FIDE Laws of Chess apply
• Chief Arbiter: TBC
With a 30-second increment from move one, players are required to maintain their scoresheet throughout the game.

The Arianne Caoili Memorial has previously attracted some of Australia’s strongest players, and we are looking forward to bringing the Queensland chess community together again for seven rounds of classical chess.
