Redcliffe Chess Club Inc invites all chess players to enter the 2026 LEO WILKINSON MEMORIAL OPEN CHESS WEEKENDER.
DATES: SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 26 and SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 27
VENUE: F BLOCK of GRACE LUTHERAN COLLEGE, BUCHANAN STREET, ROTHWELL. Park near the school swimming pool.
FORMAT: 6 round Swiss with an accelerated draw. ACF rated and QJ rated.
TIME CONTROL: 60 minutes each plus 20 seconds a move from move 1.
ROUND TIMES: 10am, 1pm and 4pm on both days.
ARBITERS: IA DAVID ESMONDE and FA MAX KERSHAW.
BYES: Up to two half point byes are available in rounds 1-4 if requested in time. Eg A round 3 bye request must be made before the start of R2.
FREE ENTRY: Free entry is on offer to GM’s, WGM’s, IM’s, WIM’s, FM’s and WFM’s. GM’s and WGM’s have a $500 guarantee against prizemoney won too! The minimum they must win is $500!
GRAND PRIX EVENT: All Qld players who are CAQ Inc Members score points in the 2026 CAQ Inc Grand Prix – 5 points just for entering + the points they score in the event.
PRIZES: 1st $1000, 2nd $500, 3rd $250, Gr A $200, Gr B $175 Gr C $150 Gr D $125 Gr E $100 Best Senior 65+ $100 Best Female: $100. Players may win more than one prize!
UNRATED PLAYERS PRIZE: The best score by an unrated player wins FREE ENTRY to the 2026 CHRISTMAS SPECIAL at ROTHWELL on Saturday December 12 and Sunday December 13.
PAYMENT OF PRIZES: All prizes will be paid by Bank Transfer and Prizes will be shared if tied on points.
ENTRY FEES: ADULTS $80 JUNIORS/CONCESSIONS $60
QUEENSLAND PLAYERS MUST BE CAQ INC MEMBERS TO PLAY IN THIS EVENT. IF YOU ARE NOT A CAQ MEMBER, go to the CAQ Inc Website and join : www.caq.org.au ($20 to join for 1 year)
