Please find attached the final crosstable for the 2026 Redcliffe Rapid Championship, concluded on Wednesday night, July 1.

Rapid Championship Summary:

Congratulations to Jai Turner for winning the 2026 RCC Rapid Championship! Jai scored his second-consecutive 6/6 to win the tournament outright by a full 2 points and will be hoping to continue his irresistible form at the upcoming Gold Coast Open where he will be taking on some of the best players in the country as well as a few overseas guns.

In a 4-way tie for second (4/6) were David Beaumont, Jeremy Reading, Tony Waraich and Rohan Pyne. Apart from Jai’s runaway performance, this tournament was extremely competitive with several new players proving tough opposition for the host of regular members – we very much hope this continues. Thank you to all players for another successful tournament!

The Gold Coast Open is back! One of the marquee events on the Australian chess calendar, this year’s edition starts this week, once again featuring Premier (Wed 8 July – Sun 12 July), Major and Minor (Fri 10th July – Sun 12 July) divisions with many great prizes to be won! Upcoming Tournament – 2026 Gold Cup FIDE Open:

The 2026 Gold Cup FIDE Open will be held at Rothwell this year in the usual RCC chess location, over the weekend of Sat/Sun 18/19 July. As the name suggests, this event will once again be FIDE, ACF and QJ rated with a classical time control of 60+30. Full details in the attached flyer. Redcliffe players can enter for the discounted fee of $80! ($20 discount).

CAQ Membership:

It is important that all players are registered as CAQ members. Memberships can be purchased online for 1 year or 3 yearly memberships, and a discount for Family memberships is also available.
