Round 5 Summary:
Jai Turner guarantees himself at least a share of first place after defeating Allan Fossey on board 1. Jai’s formidable form saw him overcome Allan with the black pieces, putting his Modern Defence to great use as he rocketed to a perfect 5/5! Well done, Jai! Trailing Jai on 4/5 is David Beaumont who outclassed new member Jim Sarney who will no doubt appreciate the opportunity to play strong players over the board. Ryan Liaw, Aaron Hamilton, and top seed David Pando are currently in a tie for 3rd place, so with one round still to play (tonight), many results are still possible! Well done, all, and good luck for the final round!

The pairings will be finalised at 8PM sharp so please try to be at Rothwell by 7:45PM to ensure a timely start to the round. Feel free to arrive as early as 7PM for social chess!
