Crosstable R5 of the 2025 Norm Braybrooke Memorial played on Wed night August 13

Please find attached the R5 crosstable of the 2025 RCC Norm Braybrooke Memorial played last night, Wednesday August 13.

On Board 1, Jai Turner kept his perfect score intact to move to 5/5 by virtue of an attacking victory over the rapidly-improving Tom Weber. Jai continues to play chess of an extremely high level and it is exciting to see him progress through the ranks of Australian chess; another homegrown product of the Redcliffe chess machine!

Board 2 featured a clash between the 2 top seeds in David Pando and David Beaumont, with David Pando prevailing in a long, complicated battle. David now moves to outright second place on 4/5, and with 2 rounds to go could still catch Jai; well done David!

The remaining boards exhibited more high quality chess with several games lasting long into the evening. James Xia, Greg Orme and Simon Yousafi now share 3rd place on 3.5/5 followed by a large group of players on 3/5 leaving many possibilities open going into the final two rounds.
