It’s time! It’s time to enter the 2024 Leo Wilkinson Memorial run by Redcliffe Chess Club Inc here at Rothwell on Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22.

You can also see attached the flyer for the Upcoming CAQ Inc U1600 ACF Qld Chess Championship at the Acacia Ridge Hotel from 6:30pm on Friday October 4 to Monday afternoon October 7. This is a 7 round FIDE, ACF and QJ rated event.

We have 5 players on a perfect 2 out of 2 in our current Wednesday night 7 round ACF and QJ rated Swiss Tournament, the 2024 Mike Dyer Memorial – Austin Hamilton, Rohan Pyne, Jai Turner, Tony Weller and Marcos Diaz – See the attached crosstable for all players scores so far. Australia has made a winning start in R1 of the FIDE Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary last night with the Open Team winning 3 to 1 over Saudia Arabia although our GM Bobby Cheng rated 2588 suffered a shock loss to a player rated just 2117 and the Women’s Team winning 4-0 over Brunei Darussalam. R2 games start at 11 pm tonight ( The Open Team is playing Zimbabwe and the Womens Team is playing Azerbaijan ) and you view games live on various sites and on You Tube. Go Australia! Go you good things!
