Allegro Crosstable after R3, Mackay Open results, Arianne Caoili Memorial Results, LWM Flyer

Rohan Pyne has the sole outright lead at the half-way mark of the 2024 Redcliffe Chess Club Inc Allegro Chess Championship! Rohan is on a perfect 3 out of 3 but with 3 rounds still to go this Wednesday night August 28, all the players on 1.5 points or 2 points or 2.5 points could still win the event! See the attached crosstable after R3.

The 2024 Leo Wilkinson Memorial, on Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22, is Redcliffe Chess Club Inc’s next Week Ender here at Grace Lutheran Rothwell – Remember you can enter for just $20, not $60 or $80, as a 2024 Redcliffe Chess Club Inc Member! Circle September 21 and September 22 on your Calendar now – it’s less than a month away now!

I have also enclosed the flyer for the 9 round 2025 Australian Chess Championships from Thursday January 2 to Saturday January 11 AND for the 7 round 2025 U1700 ACF Australian Chess Championship from Friday January 3 to Friday January 10 in Melbourne. Both events look most inviting!

A number of our Redcliffe Chess Club Members travelled all the way to Mackay on the weekend to play in 2025 Mackay Open Chess Tournament, a 6 round Swiss won by Townsville player Riccarcdo Mandolini on a perfect 6 out of 6, which included a R4 victory over IM Brodie McClymont!

You should also check the results of the 2024 Arianne Caoili Memorial Premier and u1700 ACF tournaments played at the Gold Coast on the weekend and you can find top games from these 2 events at:

https://livechess.aunz.net

In the Premier, won jointly by GM Yuan Zong Zhao and GM David Smerdon wit 6/7, Daniel Woodrow scored a fine 4 out of 7 and Max Windsor scored a creditable 3.5/7.

In the U1800 ACF Event, which was won jointly by Austin Chen and Carlos Claros Cachaya with 5/6, Max Phillips scored a respectful 4.5 points out of 6, and with that a share of 3rd prize. Well done Max!

All our players who travelled all the way to Mackay instead of playing at the Gold Coast, enjoyed the Mackay event immensely and all did quite well overall – Brodie finished =2nd on 5/6, Sophia Xu scored 4/6 and won $500 in cash for the Best Junior score, Tony Weller and Mark C Stokes shared the Rating Group 1 prize and Best Senior Prize with 4/6, and James Cheng Yi Xia and Iris Wang both finished on a respectful 3 out of 6. We all enjoyed it immensely and plan to play again next year in the 2025 Mackay Open Chess Tournament!
