Crosstable R6 of the 2026 Summer Swiss played on Wed night Mar 4
Please find attached the Round 6 (final round) crosstable for the 2026 Redcliffe Summer Swiss, played on Wednesday night, March 4.
Round 6 Summary:
Filip Simic is the outright winner of the 2026 Redcliffe Summer Swiss! Congratulations, Filip!
Filip won his final round game against CAQ President CM Tony Dowden to move to 5/6 (5 wins and 1 loss). David Pando and Nikola Maljkovic, the two other co-leaders going into the final round, drew their board 1 game in what can be an upset result for the under-rated Maljkovic who has proven he can match it with the best players at the club. Also finishing on 4.5/6 and in a tie for second was Rohan Pyne who defeated a somewhat out-of-sorts Allan Fossey who started the tournament in impressive form and will no doubt come back stronger in the next tournament. Following these players on 4/6 were Tony Truscott and Mark C Stokes, two RCC veterans. Congratulations all on a great tournament that was played in high spirits. With a total of 41 players playing at least 1 round of the tournament, the 2026 numbers are looking strong and we hope they continue to rise.
Next Event – Viv Greenelsh Memorial – 8:00PM Wednesday 11 March:
The next tournament on the RCC Wednesday night calendar is the 2026 Viv Greenelsh Memorial, a 6-round ACF and QJ rated classical tournament featuring a time control of 60+20 or 30+30 for the juniors. This will be held over 6 consecutive Wednesday nights at Rothwell with the first round beginning at 8PM this Wednesday, 11 March.
The pairings will be finalised at 8PM sharp so please try to be at Rothwell by 7:45PM to ensure a timely start to the round. Feel free to arrive as early as 7PM for social chess!
