Crosstable R6 of the 2025 Club Championship played on Wed night December 3
Please find attached the Round 6 crosstable for the 2025 Redcliffe Club Championship, played on Wednesday night, December 3.
Round 6 Summary:
The 2025 Redcliffe club championship is now a 2-horse race! Tony Truscott and David Beaumont both won their round 6 games to move to 5.5/6 and 5/6 respectively. After stellar campaigns these two players are now set to face each other in a final round showdown where a draw will be enough for Tony to be crowned champion and David will require a win; this promises to be an exciting battle! In round 6, Tony defeated Allan Fossey with the black pieces, the two long-time RCC members trading blows over the course of a long game until Allan made a decisive error in mutual time trouble which gave Tony an edge towards the end of the middlegame. Tony displayed excellent endgame technique, his strongest asset, in converting his advantage into the full point. On board 2, CM David Beaumont was tested by the experienced Greg Orme in another long encounter that had the “evaluation bar” swinging wildly to both sides before David finally iced the victory with only seconds remaining on his clock! On board 3, Jai Turner sprung an opening surprise on club president Mark C Stokes and quickly gained an advantage. Mark fought hard and tried to create complications over the board, however Jai remained composed and finished the game with a nice tactical combination to move to 4.5/6 and in a great position to finish on the podium with one round to play. Please see the attachment for full round 6 results. Congratulations, all!
