Crosstable R4 of the 2025 Mike Dyer Memorial played on Wed night October 8

Please find attached the Round 4 crosstable for the 2025 Mike Dyer Memorial, played last Wednesday night, October 8.

Round Summary:

We currently have two players tied for the lead on 3.5/4 with Jai Turner and Allan Fossey winning their Round 4 games! Jai overcame some tricky play from Ryan Xia on Board 1 to score the full point, feeling the need to sacrifice the exchange in order to prevent his position from collapsing. Allan defeated Greg Orme with black on Board 2, continuing his recent run of good results. On Board 3, David Beaumont got the better of Aaron Hamilton’s Caro Kann, opting for the quiet exchange variation but managing to outplay Aaron with some strong maneuvers. Mark C Stokes played a nice game against Zaichic Turner on Board 4, with this win moving Mark to 3/4, good enough for a 5-way tie for 3rd place. Precocious talent James Xia outclassed Nithin Varghese on Board 5, and another talented youngster in Brett Oakley also won his game, scoring the full point with black against Simon Levy. Regular member Martin Post won with black against Libero Ceccherini, and 7-year-old Fedra Simic scored a nice win in an exciting game against Braeden Levy on Board 8. Tony Weller used his wealth of experience to defeat Dylan Pu, as did Max Kershaw on Board 10 against improving junior Leo Betty. Resolute junior Nikola Maljkovic scored a win against new member Jordan Cotterill, and Chris Basiaco was treated to a long game against Don Moore, eventually breaking through for the full point. Jim Porter continues to prove that age is only a number by defeating James Prowse on Board 13, and it was great to see Sophia Xu back playing at the club as she demonstrated a fine victory against Craig Aumuller. To round out an impressive 15 boards, two new players met on Board 15, with Ryan Aumuller getting the better of Cedric Schaffer. Congratulations all!
