JAI WINS 6/6, TRANSFER CHESS $1 tonight 18/06/25, PENINSULA OPEN $21 entry fee 28/06/25,29/06/25

Jai Turner convincingly won our just completed Wednesday night Club Tournament, the 2025 Lou Wilkinson Memorial, on 6/6! Jai defeated Nithin Varghese, Simon Levy, Allan Fossey, James ChengYi Xia, David Beaumont and Tony Dowden on his road to victory. Congratulations Jai once again! 47 different players played at least 1 round in this event.

2nd and 3rd places were shared by young James ChengYi Xia and old Mark C Stokes, both on a reasonable score of 4.5/6. See the attached crosstable for the full results.

Tonight, Wednesday night June 18, the night of State of Origin Game 2 between Queensland and NSW, we have our $1 each Transfer Chess night run by Jai. It is sure to be a fun night of Chess! Let’s hope it’s also a fun night of football!

Next Wednesday night, June 25, and the following Wednesday night, July 2, we will run our $2 entry fee for all Rapid Chess Championship over 2 nights, with 3 rounds of 15 minutes each + 3 seconds a move chess each night. That’s sure to be a lot of fun too and you won’t need to write down any of the moves unless you want to. $2 is a bargain price entry fee too! Trophies will be awarded at the end of the year for this event, so do not miss it!

Speaking of bargain base entry fees, you can also enter our upcoming Week Ender, the 60th Peninsula Open, on Saturday June 28 and Sunday June 29, for just $21! Yes, as a Redcliffe Chess Club member, you can enter our Week Ender for just $21. And it’s time to enter! See the attached entry form for full details on how to enter. Over 25 entries have already been received, headed by Ben Leong 2021, Kiamehr Baneshi 1917, Callum Gray 1899 and Tony Dowden, 1834.

Don’t forget to enter the 60th Peninsula Open soon – it’s on Saturday June 28 and Sunday June 29 – for just $21.
