Congratulations to IM Renjith on moving into the TOP 10 in Qld. Chess.

Next step of course is GM Norms.

Hopefully Queenslanders will pick up some GM Norms in the 2024 Australian Championships being held in Adelaide.

The groundbreaking decision to pay amateurs cash rating prizes but no appearance fees for Grandmasters is an interesting experiment.

Maths was never my strong point so I need someone to tell me what score you need in a FIDE rated event to score a GM Norm, or IM Norm – with no GMs playing.

Still trying to work out why adult chess is the smallest sport in Australasia.
