No, Mikhail and William did not make it to the Qld Vets this year but, in addition to the usual suspects:
Four times Queensland Champion, Colin Morris was undefeated in his comeback.
Victorian Chess Coach CM David Beaumont was the popular winner. We hope that he can be persuaded to undertake the operation to become a Queenslander.
Roy Hedges, with a British rating equivalent to 1800 ACF. flew down from Innisfail.
Martin Carter arrived from Bundaberg with news of the Bundaberg Classic next weekend,
Mathew Juszczynski made the trip from South Australia and Chris Belton from NSW prefers Fish Pie to Pizza.
A lot of thanks is due to Gail Young and Mark C Stokes for organizing and performing the many tasks involved in running the tournament.
The position in the Botvinnik Lombardy game, around move ten, arose twice in the Vets tournament and occasioned discussion about how to proceed. Mikhail had the same problem.
