FIDE’s World Team Championships – FINALLY!!

The new World Championship is the brainchild of Wadim Rosenstein, the chess-playing founder and CEO of the Dusseldorf based WR Logistics Group. It had its attractions with THIRTY SIX (36) sponsored teams with a unique blend of professional players, top women, and amateur ‘recreational’ players on each squad. Many major stars were signed up for various privately sponsored teams, such as Fabiano Caruana, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Wesley So and Levon Aronian et al.

In addition, there were former World Champions Vishy Anand and Vladimir Kramnik; with the newer generation represented by breakout Indian teenage stars Gukesh and Praggnanandhaa.

On paper, WR Chess were the second seed, but they dominated from start to finish to claim victory with a round to spare, unbeaten on 22/24 match points, two points ahead of top seed rivals Freedom, led by former world champion, Anand.

Rosentstein is also the sponsor of the WR Masters Elite tournament in Dusseldorf.

PARENTS – Which State or National Team is your child trying to get into???

AGMs are coming up for State and National Bodies.

Please tell your club delegate to vote for TEAMS CHESS.

Enough with the endless, dead end, weekenders. All they do is crush club night attendances.

Enough with burning money on rating prizes that could be going into paying admin. people’s wages.

Enough with begging the government for money because we have given all ours away.

How hard is it for each club to come up with a team? Really!
