    The University of Queensland Chess Club is hosting the 2023 UQ October Classic this coming weekend, the 21st and 22nd of October, at the UQ St Lucia campus. Alongside the October Classic will be the UQ Halloween Team Battle, an invitational 12-player Scheveningen team match. Join us for a weekend of competitive chess!

    Event Details:
    Dates: 21-22 October 2023
    Venue: Room 11A-120, ModWest Building, University of Queensland, St Lucia, Qld 4067
    Format: FIDE Dutch Swiss, six rounds, Baku acceleration
    Eligibility: Players must have a FIDE ID, be rated under 2400 FIDE, and be members of the CAQ
    Ratings: Rated in FIDE, ACF and QJ lists
    Entry Fee: $40
    Chief Arbiter: NA Maximilian Windsor

    Prizes:
    1st Place: $150
    2nd Place: $100
    3rd Place: $80
    2x Rating Groups: $60

    Playing Schedule:
    Registration: 9:00 am, 21 October
    Round 1: 9:30 am, 21 October
    Round 2: 1:00 pm, 21 October
    Round 3: 4:30 pm, 21 October
    Round 4: 9:30 am, 22 October
    Round 5: 1:00 pm, 22 October
    Round 6: 4:30 pm, 22 October

    Other Information:
    Two half-point byes may be taken in Rounds 1-4. Any subsequent byes, and byes taken after Round 4, will be zero-point byes. The forfeit time for each round is 30 minutes after the scheduled start time. Entries will close at 9 pm on Friday 20 October.
