This event showed the world that Australia was capable of World Class events in our own backyard.
Most of the funding came from the Wallman Brokerage Firm if I remember correctly.
Do we have the Juniors capable of playing at this level?
Given the right lead up events with some World Class training – of course we do.
Round robins, Young Masters, Australian Masters type events would be a great lead up.
Do we have the finance to fund such an event?
Junior Clubs are full of parents who would get behind such a project – only here’s the catch!
They want to see adult management of resources and business plans. No handout mentality.
Run it along the same lines of many Australian Junior Chess Businesses and we are on a winner.
