Thank you Shaun and Steve for putting on a great day of fun yet most competitive Team Chess. The turnout was out of this world, with no less than 26 teams of 6 playing – Wow! Excessive Epicness Team 1, captained by Tyson Walker, were the standout team and very much deserved their victory! Jai Turner’s 7 out of 7 on Board 6 also deserves a special mention, as does Yi Liu, Kiamehr Baneshi and Tony Dowden’s scores of 6.5 out of 7! No less than 10 other players scored 6 out of 7! Thank you to Gold Coast Chess too for raising funds for the next Olympiad on the day with their raffle! It was also great to see Gold Coast Chess Club award David Esmonde with Life Membership of their Club – congratulations David! It was also fantastic to see the combined Suncoast/Mackay Chess Team take out Division A! It was indeed a memorable day for Queensland Chess in so many ways.
