Aussies do very well at World U/8s – FIDE RATED

A crow has just arrived with the news that our leading U/8 did not have a coach in Batumi!!

We can afford $1,000 for U/1600 Rating prizes but we cannot afford to support a rising Australian Junior who led the World U8s on several occasions. I wonder why we are not a top chess nation?

Have we just seen the first building blocks of an Australian Olympiad Top 5 fall into place?

Two of the 3 players were Queenslanders but from an Australian perspective, we should be supplying more FIDE RATED events for these up and coming GMs.

Leave the monster swiss social chess for the old timers and let’s get some “Young Masters” events happening all over the country.

State Young Masters – 8 players – twice a year.

2 retired GMs or IMs and 6 of the best Juniors in the state.

Round Robin of course

FIDE Rated of course.

11 rounds in Batumi and 11 hard games.
