RCC new U/8 star, Cheng Yi (James) Xia, places =3rd in 2022 U/8 Qld. Junior Championships.

James played some good games against very strong opposition and learned a lot from the day.

80 players in this section and heaps of talent on display.

I will post the final standings when they become available.

Queensland’s task is now to provide a good business like format to retain these players.

99% of these players currently leave Qld. chess when they finish school. That is sad.

After High School – no more teams chess – and no more interest – except for the very dedicated.

We should be retaining 50-60% of players for the rest of their lives so that they can bring their children along to play.
