Adult Round Robins return to Queensland!! —Now for some PROPER CHESS!!

The problem with Monster Swisses is that nobody ever plays anybody until the last round.
So for 5 or 6 rounds the games are being decided in the middle game because of the miss-matched draw.
To beat the World, and for our Olympiad Teams (as yet unnamed) –
to place in the Top 5 and not the Nervous 20s –
we need to be able to play and practice endgames in real time against similar strength players.

I – The Premier Division – Single Round Robin – The top 8 seeded entries by ACF Rating
II – The Challenger Division – 7 Round Swiss

Time control:
60 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move 1

Round 1 6:45 pm Tuesday 26 July
Round 2 6:45 pm Tuesday 2 August
Round 3 6:45 pm Tuesday 9 August
Round 4 6:45 pm Tuesday 16 August
Round 5 6:45 pm Tuesday 23 August
Round 6 6:45 pm Tuesday 30 August
Round 7 6:45 pm Tuesday 6 September

Pairing System:
The Premier Division – Vega using Single Round Robin
The Challenger Division – Vega using Swiss Dutch FIDE JaVaFo

Tie Break:
The Premier Division – Single Round Robin
1.Most Wins;
2.Sonneborn-Berger;
3.Koya.

The Challenger Division – 7 Round Swiss
1.Buchholz Cut 1;
2.Buchholz;
3.Direct Encounter.
In case of a tie, the Tournament title will be decided on tie-break but all prize money for placings will be evenly split.

Forfeiture time:
30 minutes from advertised start time.

Byes:
The Premier Division
No Byes Allowed. If a player can not play a game then it must be rescheduled with the chief arbiter. All missed games must be completed by Tues., September 13th – which will act as a catch up day if required.

The Challenger Division
Half Point Byes: A maximum of two half point byes only will be permitted for rounds 1 to 5
Provisional Pairings will be published on Saturday. Arbiter must be informed by Friday, 5 pm if you require a bye for the following round.

Prizes:
Total Prize Pool: $800

The Premier Division
Prizes: 1st $200, 2nd $100 and Best Game Prize $50

The Challenger Division
1st $150, 2nd $100, 3rd $50 and 1st Rating Group A $75 and 1st Rating Group B $75
The Winner of the Challenger Division will also win a place in Term 4’s Premier Division Round Robin

In the case of a tie prize money will be shared. Players are eligible for 1 prize only and will be awarded the larger prize. Titles will be decided on countback.

Arbiters:
The event will be conducted as a player arbiter event.
