The festival for under 20 years of age players kicks off with a Blitz Tournament on Friday the 10th of December from 10am to 2pm at Morris Hall, Oaklands Parade, East Brisbane – “Churchie”. A FIDE rated Swiss is on from Monday Dec 13 to Fri Dec 17.

XMAS WEEKENDER – A six round Swiss on Sat Dec 18 and Sun Dec 19, with 60 minutes each + 20 seconds a move, at Buranda State School Hall, 24 Cowley St, Woolloongabba. Be there by 9:15am for registration. See the CAQ Website for full details.

CAQ AGM – The CAQ AGM is on Sunday December 12 at 5pm at William Duncan State School, corner of Explorer’s Way and Alexander Drive, Highland Park.

Mark C Stokes is stepping down as President of the CAQ at this AGM after 10 years as CAQ President. 3 nominations have been received for the next CAQ President – Shaun Curtis, Hughston Parle and Doug Williams

2 nominations have been received for Vice-President – Andrew FitzPatrick and Hughston Parle.

3 nominations have been received for Secretary – Jonathan Jones, Yi Liu and Hughston Parle.

3 nominations have been received for Membership Secretary – David Esmonde, Tyson Walker and Gail Young.

2 nominations have been received for Ratings Officer – David Esmonde and Gail Young.

2 nominations have been received for Junior Development Officer – Steven Cooke and Shaun Curtis.

Only 1 nomination was received for Treasurer so Bryan Moss will be returned as Treasurer unopposed, as will Andrew FitzPatrick as Tournament Officer, Martin Carter as Regional Liaison Co-Ordinator, Eliot Soo- Burrowes as Development Officer and Hughston Parle as Publicity Officer.

Tony Weller has agreed to represent Redcliffe Chess Club at this CAQ AGM. Mark Stokes will act as proxy for Townsville Chess Club and Bundaberg Chess Club.

The REDCLIFFE CHESS CLUB AGM and FREE PIZZA PARTY will take place at 7:45pm on Wednesday night December 22, followed by the last round of the 2021 Redcliffe Chess Club Championship at 8:15pm. We will close after the last round for the Christmas break and re-open for 2022 on Wednesday night January 19 with round 1 of the Summer Swiss. More details on the Redcliffe Chess Club AGM will come out next week.
