RCC junior players at Qld. Junior Champs. 2021

A number of our Redcliffe Junior players took part in the 2021 Queensland Junior Chess Championships at Sunpac last week and full results can be seen now on the CAQ Website: www.caq.org.au

Jai Turner played very well in the U14-U18’s, winning 5 games, drawing 2 games and losing just 1 game, to finish in 3rd place with 6 points out of 8. His two draws were against the winner Shafiuddin Aanan and the runner up Michael Ostapenko as well. Congratulations on a very good tournament Jai!

Other Redcliffe Junior players also recorded creditable results in the U14-U18’s: Benjamin Leong 5.5, Joel Leong 5, Filip Simic 5, Jeeva Praveen 4.5, Max Phillips 3.5 and Thomas Worrall 3.

In the U12’s Owen Shen also did really well to score 5 out of 8 and Nilkola Maljkovic also played some good games and scored 4.5/8.

Owen Shen also played in the U10’s and again performed at a high level, with a score of 6 points out of 8, just 1 point behind the U10 winner Calen Tang. Congratulations Owen!
