RCC ONLINE CHESS EVENT- see instructions
No chess at Grace Lutheran March 31st – ONLINE COMPETITION ONLY!
Here are the instructions for joining the online lockdown tournament tomorrow night, Wednesday 31/03/2021.
Firstly, if you haven’t already, create a chess.com account and apply for the online club by clicking here. Most people have already done this. Please include your name in this application so that everyone knows who you are. You can see who is playing under which account here (only once you join the club).
Please note that registration for the event will only open at 6:30pm.
After you have joined the online club, follow these steps:
1) Go to the live chess.com server – chess.com/live OR on the left, hover over “Play” and then select “Live Chess”
2) Click on the “Tournaments” tab at the top of the screen.
3) At the top should be “Redcliffe Lockdown Special”
The format is a six round swiss, with a time control of 15+10. The tournament will begin at 7:30PM. It is imperative that you join before then, as there is no tolerance for late entries.
IMPORTANT – There are no fixed round start times. Each round begins a few seconds after the last game from the previous round ends. Please ensure that you keep an eye on the tournament once your game is done so you don’t miss the start of the next round.
IMPORTANT – Engine use, reference to opening books or tablebases, or indeed any outside assistance at all will result in a permanent ban from both our club and chess.com. The rules are no different from in person chess in this regard.
