Round 2 results for July, 2020 tournament.

Round 2 of this club tournament was held on Wednesday 8th July, 2020 at the Rothwell temporary venue.

20 members were in attendance, with the youngest club member Nikola Maljikovich and the oldest in Victor Davidovici (but young at heart) both rejoining the club for tonight’s event.

It is becoming obvious that the junior members of the club have no fear in playing the seasoned players – often taking no prisoners and showing the benefits of their coaching and mentoring during the enforced closure. Times for each game were 60 minutes per player, with an increment of 10 seconds per move.

Results for this round were:

1.  Jai Turner            0    vs          Tom Maguire  1.
2. Cameron Devere  0    vs         Filip Simic       1.   Filip has been improving his game consistently over the past two years and is one of Queensland’s up and coming juniors.
3.  Mark Stokes         1    vs          Rex Scarf         0.  Mark survived an early shock to win a complicated, but interesting game against his strong opponent.
4. Lachlan Wang       1  vs            PJ Bargo         0.
5. Jeeva Praveen        1  vs           Allan Fossey   0.  This was a major upset and reinforces the strength of the emerging juniors in the club.
6. Michael Van Pelt   0  vs           Tony Weller    1.
7. Victor Davidovici   1   vs          Colin Dougherty 0.
8. Tony McRoberts     1   vs          Nathan Hopkins 0.
9. Ethan Chen              0   vs         Kingston Wang    1.  A good night for the Wang brothers as they both won.
10. Kosta Simic             1/2 vs         Nikola Maljikovic  1/2.

Round 3 will be held on Wednesday 15th July, 2020 at the Rothwell venue. Anyone interested in playing chess is more than welcome to attend.
