2019 Norm Braybrooke Classic Tournament.
The club recently conducted the 2019 Norm Braybrooke classic tournament in recognition of the club’s only life member who has been a long time influential club stalwart.
The event was contested by 21 players over 6 rounds at a time of 60 minutes plus 20 seconds per move and finished on Wednesday 4th September, 2019.
Tournament results were:
1st Tony Weller on 5/6 points. Tony recorded one of the rarest incidents in the club over the past two years – he defeated Tom Maguire in a hard fought match.
2nd Tom Maguire 4 1/2 points. A loss to Tony and a draw with the club’s impressive and talented junior Filip Simic.
=3rd on 4 points were Allan Fossey, Victor Davidovici and Rex Scarf.
Best U1500 in equal place were Tim Steggall and Anthony McRoberts.
Best junior was Filip Simic.
During the presentations, Club President Mark Stokes highlighted the significant contribution of Norm over many decades and looked forwarded to his continued attendance at weekly club events and his support as a valued club member.
