2018 Redcliffe Chess Club Championship Round 6 Report
Tom Maguire retained his half point lead in the 2018 Redcliffe Chess Club Championship over Allan Fossey after both won their R6 games on Wednesday night Dec 5. Tom’s win over Cameron de Vere was a quick one, whilst Allan Fossey won his game over Mark C Stokes in a much longer battle. Near the end of the Fossey-Stokes encounter, Allan had the opportunity to set up a rather remarkable Queen sacrifice leading to checkmate but what he did was good enough.
With one round to go, Tom remains the hot favourite to defend his Title, but Allan is still in with a chance.
